DISTINCTION
CONCEPT
GARBAGE TO GARDEN is a system that aims to sell users' compost to companies that can upcycle it into fuel and fertilisers.
FUNCTION
The aim of this project is to enable a fairer interaction between us, humans, and the environment. By recycling our compost, the losses (fuel, energy, soil, etc.) caused by food waste are reduced.
To do that, the compostable waste should be sorted into two categories - green (nitrogen-rich waste) and brown (carbon-rich waste) - before being taken to a collection point. In return, the user receives money.
The app works as a resource for finding the location of those collection points, information about how to sort their compostable waste and enables the kiosk check-in. Additionally, users can use the app to check how much food they have already upcycled, and the homepage plant grows as the user composts.
